What this site keeps, and what it does not.
Short version: no account, no cookies, no advertising trackers. Your progress stays in your own browser. Nothing about you is sent anywhere unless you choose to fill in the optional form.
Your progress in the tracker
The tracker saves your progress, such as the days you have logged, your word counts and your targets, in your browser's local storage, on your own device. It is not sent to Scribe Media or anyone else, and there is no account to create. That also means we cannot recover it for you: if you clear your browser's site data, switch browsers or use a different device, your progress will not be there.
The calendar file
If you choose to add the challenge to your calendar, the calendar file is created by your browser, on your device, and downloaded straight to you. The site does not receive your calendar or any details from it.
Counting visits
To know whether the challenge is useful, the site counts simple events, such as "a page was viewed." Each count is stored only as a total per day. No cookie is set, and no IP address, device ID or other identifier is stored with the counts. The counts do not include what you wrote or how many words.
Links that carry campaign tags
If you arrived from a link with campaign tags in the address (such as utm_source), the site keeps those tags in session storage and sends them with the optional form, so Scribe knows which link brought you. Links from this site to scribemedia.com are tagged to show they came from here.
If you send the form
The optional form is the only place this site collects personal information. If you send it, your name, email, optional phone number and the consent choices you tick are sent to Scribe Media and stored in Scribe's customer system (HubSpot). Scribe uses them to get in touch with you and as described in the Scribe Media privacy policy. A one-line summary of your challenge (your start date, daily goal, days written and total words, but never your notes) is sent with the form too, so the Scribe team knows where you are. You can unsubscribe from Scribe's emails at any time.
Fonts and hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare and loads its fonts from Google Fonts. Like any web server, these receive standard request information such as your IP address in order to deliver the page.
